Jack Bowerman's Photo Album

From left, operators Arthur Green and E T Redford (one arm). Others unknown. Photo taken on the steps of the Point Grey Wireless Station (unique porch lights are the clue). Tnx Dick Lobb.

Album plate--applicable photos edited off and appear elsewhere on site.

Pachena from the top of the water tower. Goes with photo 214.

Pachena's noted gardening in evidence. Goes with photo 214.

No identification on this photo but it does look like Bull Harbour. It could be associated with 403 & 404 as they are on the same album page, although it is a bit of stretch.

L.W. Stephenson, unidentified man and Jack Bowerman with Inspection vehicle. Note the folded down radio direction finding loop antenna on the roof of the car.

District Engineer L.W. Stephenson in the middle of two unrecognized Estevan men. The two lads on either side appear in 423.

Estevan Station's dock facilities at the native village of Hesquiat. Note size of handsaw (for one person) leaning against building by truck.

Unknown group, except for Jack Bowerman in the sweater--back row--, and location.

Heavy work at Estevan Point. Block and tackle in evidence.

Estevan point Radio Operations building in the 1940's. This side faces to the west. The building was pulled down in 1986. The left hand side was the power house while the right hand side was the radio operations room. Note the long wire antenna feeding into the building via the white mast.

Mrs. Redford, Bob Cole, E.T. Redford, Bruce Restall, and an unknown man. Photo is from Estevan Point, most likely behind the radio building. People were all part of the radio station.

Sid Woods, Stephenson, & unknown person. Location unknown.

A three bay garage with a caterpillar tractor heading out. Location unknown, but blowing the photo up, makes the hills in the background visible--they are vegetated as in the dryer BC interior.

Estevan Point's Hesquiat landing. Workboat unloading passengers from the steamer. George Ignace standing in the water assisting. Lady standing with the small child is could be Betty-Lou Grey.

Mr. & Mrs. E. Redford with Jack Bowerman at Estevan. Redford was the operator who got the message out the station was being shelled during WW2.

Left to right: unknown gentleman, Jack Bowerman & L.W. Stephenson. Location unknown for certain, but if I had to guess it would be Pachena. Stephenson has the same tie and clothes on in photo 422 below. (Perhaps even the same cigarette).

District Radio Engineer L.W. Stephenson in the middle. Stephenson has the same tie and clothes on in photo 421 above.

Estevan Station's landing dock shack at Hesquiat. Note the truck has the front left fender missing, the headlights are tilted down and the addition of another light in the left wheel well. This was so the driver could navigate the two rail plank road back to the station from Hesquiat. Two of the lads appear in 409.

Photo taken on the buoy tender Estevan. Captain Harry Bilton, 20 years the skipper, on the left. Others are unknown. Bilton retired in 1945. See a newspaper clipping from 1954 regarding Estevan skippers.
